PLEASE CALL TO CHECK AVAILBILITY ALL TEST DRIVES MADE BY APPOINTMENT 01792 439 007 .....Ford did not invent the MPV sector, but it is the only car manufacturer that offers three distinct models in the class. Throughout its life, the C-Max has been a usefully compact MPV based on the same underpinnings as the mighty, and huge-selling Focus hatchback. Five-seat MPVs can sometimes be little more than tall hatchbacks, but the C-Max has a few more tricks up its sleeve than that. The rear seats fold 40-20-40 rather than the standard 60-40 split you will find in most hatches, and even with a sliding rear bench the minimum luggage space is a more than decent 423 litres. With all seats folded it is a cavernous 1,723 litres. This second-generation C-Max uses the same seating concept as the original model did. That means three individual rear seats that can slide and fold independently, making for a really flexible interior. The backrests fold down in a 40-20-40 split, which is much more practical than the 60-40 you will find on most comparable hatchbacks. And when in place, you will find lots of legroom for adults plus Isofix mountings in both outer seats. The C-Max has a high roofline that allows plenty of headroom, tall passengers will be able to sit upright, no problem. Rear passengers do get a central armrest and picnic tables on the front seat backrests. The C-Max comes with Fords typically near-perfect driving position, not always a given in a tall MPV. You sit high, but with lots of adjustment in the drivers seat and steering wheel all shapes and sizes should be able to get comfortable. There is good visibility out of the front, too, while the high-mounted gear selector is nice and accessible for the driver. Refinement in the C-Max is a strong point, and the seats are comfortable throughout. Ride quality strikes that typical Ford balance firm enough to ensure good handling, but still pliant and supple. These aspects make it a great long-distance cruiser, and long trips with all the family aboard are a cinch. It is also good round town, where speed bumps, potholes and the like prove not to upset things too much. This is aided by sensibly-sized wheels on all models. Fords reliability record is good, The C-Max is protected by the same three-year/60,000 mile warranty as the rest of the Ford range. The underpinnings are Focus-based, meaning maintenance is easy and cheap, plus the vast Ford dealer network should ensure it is easy to find a garage near you.
